Styling your family for your family session doesn’t have to be a headache. All you need to do is follow these simple steps to style your entire family!

Step One

Choosing your outfit is a first for sure Mom! Choose a style that you are comfortable, free to move, and feel beautiful in. Once you know that, next is color. As the glue of your family a pattern or beautiful bright color is fitting. But be sure to choose one your heart loves and your skin tone agrees with.

Step 2

Choose your kiddos outfits next. Start with the youngest and move on to the oldest. The younger ones tend to be the most picky when it comes to textures and layers. Whereas your older kiddos tend to be more agreeable and willing to try a new outfit. Pick a color that coordinates (but not identical to) your outfit. If yours was a pattern, choose colors you find in that pattern.

Step 3

The next step is to style your partner. Dad is usually the easiest person to choose clothing for. Pants they already love, and typically a color they prefer to wear. If you have not used any neutral colors in the outfits you’ve already chosen, use a neutral base in at least one layer for hubs. Don’t be afraid to pair a neutral tee layered with an open button up in a color that coordinates with the other outfits of the family.

Step 4

Accessories are often forgotten but should be on your radar too. Using blankets, shawls, hats and even jewelry are great for adding textures and colors to your photos this fall. You will also add movement in the way those things are photographed. Blankets and hats are my favorite as they are great for kiddos to play and snuggle with. Think the neutral tones that compliment your outfits, and textures that your little ones will love.

Step 5
