Family photography (especially with me behind the camera) is about capturing the heart and soul of your family.

But, in all honesty, the two types of family photography I offer are quite different. There is not one that is “better” than the other, or one that produces more heartwarming imagery. The fact is they are just different. This also doesn’t mean you can’t want both! Personally, I would love for my family to be captured in both styles.

Let’s start with storytelling family photography. These sessions tell the authentic story behind your family. They freeze details of your day-to-day life that will one day be considered a cherished memory. Meltdowns and snuggles both.

Now down to the aspects of a Storytelling Family Session.

These can be help in your home, on a family outing, or special trip. Storytelling family sessions feature the raw, real, and exposed side of family life. The joys (and at times tears) that come with being a family are captured and thus forever remembered. There is 0 posing, prompting, or cleaning up involved. There is just you. If you have a tendency for clutter and laundry spread around, then that is what we capture. If your family thrives on reading hours, snuggles, and walks to the park, then that is what we capture. If your tiny human is in constant meltdown mode and wants nothing but Momma, we capture it! The story of your family is beautiful, unique, and something that deserves to be documented. That is what a Storytelling Family Session is for!

Now lets head onto Styled Family Photography. These sessions are amazing for capturing the play and beauty of your family. Think “highlight reel” infused with joy. Styled family sessions are an experience all on their own.

Let’s hop into the nitty gritty of a Styled Family Session.

These are exactly like they sound. From the get-go, we style the entire experience together. We build an experience (and the outfits to go with it) that speaks to your family. We capture are the laughter, giggles, snuggles, and play from this experience. These sessions (like the documentary sessions) are completely custom and therefor completely unique to your family.

When choosing the right session for your family, there is no wrong choice. You truly cannot go wrong. Both sessions will produce beautiful imagery and an amazing experience. It truly comes down to what you are comfortable with experiencing and showcasing. Telling the raw and real story of your family is not for everyone, but then again neither is the full photo experience you get from a Styled Family Session.
